Tutorial: Laptop Sleeve 'Red Maloo' Style


What you'll need:
Exterior fabric (it's a great way to use medium fabric like canvas or upholstery, but pretty cottons work well too).
Interlining (fusible fleece works fine, you can double it up for more padding. Or you can use an old towel).
Interior fabric (flannel or cotton would work well)
Optional decorations like rhinestones or appliques.

The how to:
Measure the length (L), width (W), and height (H) of your laptop. My sister's netbook has different heights on the front and back and it has supporting legs too. Note both heights and make sure you include the legs.

Cut your exterior, interlining, and interior fabrics according to the diagram below, with 1/2" seam allowance.

Attach the interlining fabric to the wrong side of the interior fabric. If using fusible fleece, simply follow the instruction that came with it (usually steam ironing). If using something else, baste circumference with 1/4" seam allowance. If desired, you can top stitch the whole fabric like a quilt.

Stitch the exterior and interior fabric right sides together with 1/2" seam allowance, leaving the non-rounded side open. 


Cut the four corners of the centre rectangle close to the stitches. Be careful not to cut the thread. 

Cut the corners of the rounded edges.


Flip the fabric so the right sides are out.
Press.
Close the straight edge with top stitch 1/4" from the edge.
Top stitch the rest of circumference 1/4" from the edge.





Attach velcro as pictured. This step can also be done before the exterior and interior fabrics are sewn together, but I prefer doing it last for more strength.
Attach optional decorations with fabric glue.

      Motykas in Asia 2016 Part 7 - West Java

      One day after we arrived in Jakarta from Phuket, we went on a road trip to Bandung, West Java. We were on a roll! Hahaha. Our first destination was the White Crater, a beautiful place located in Ciwidey, outside Bandung.  We left our home at around 7 am and arrived at the crater at almost noon. It was a loooong drive. Nonetheless, the view was breathtaking. It was a bit chilly up there, even the Winnipegers pulled out their jackets. :D The crater was pale green with strong sulphur smell, they recommend a maximum of 15 minutes at the bottom.       Japan Trip June 2016 - Part 9 - Osaka

      It was a super hot and bright morning and we were all packed and ready to ride the train to Osaka. We had no excuse to take a taxi so we walked to Kyoto Station... It was a rather short ride considering we moved cities, it was still around noon when we arrived at Osaka Station.
